ATM®2 Systems

From Painful to Pain-free... in Minutes

We offer a system to move you beyond pain. At our clinics we combine our expertise in movement and pain with our belief in compassion and respect. We believe everyone has the capacity to heal themselves-we simply provide the opportunity and tools for you to achieve your goals. Physical problems exist beyond the body, impacting many aspects of a person's life.

With our help, you can reclaim your body's potential, and learn skills to sustain your well-being. At our clinics you will learn not only to take care of your injury, but how to work smart, and how to manage overall health. We do not treat an area without addressing the rest of the system. Therefore ankle sprains, elbow tendonitis, and sacroiliac dysfunctions are all addressed through full body assessment. We separate ourselves from other healthcare professionals by looking at the complete picture and not only the specific injury that you may have. Physical therapy has never been practiced like this and our patients are the beneficiaries.

We utilize traditional modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound and traction when appropriate. However, our success in providing rapid pain relief with ease in movement by using:

Primal Reflex Release Technique (PRRT)

PRRT: In today's noisy and hectic world, our bodies have become hyper-stimulated. As a result, multiple areas of the body respond involuntarily to stress stimuli-without us even being aware of it. This phenomenon is called the Startle Stress Reflex (SSR), is a conditioned reflex. There is evidence of this reflex present in Gulf War veterans and women who have been assaulted. With everyday conditioning by SSR in our daily hyper-stimulated lives the protective reflexes have the potential for the pain a patient feels.

During our exam we lightly touch about dozen areas that cause the patient to jump or pull away. These areas have the protective reflexes and the goal of PRRT is to return them to their normal state. With our rapid resets of the hyper stimulated areas most patients report 50 percent decrease in pain after just one visit and a similar improvement in ease of motion. Their smiles light up the room and they are astonished by their newfound joy of movement. Drug-free pain relief can be a reality with PRRT!

Low Level Laser Technology (LLLT)

LLLT: Low Level Laser Therapy also known as Cold Laser Therapy, and phototherapy, involves the application of low power coherent light to injuries and lesions to stimulate healing and reduce pain. It is used to increase the speed, quality andstrength of tissue repair, resolve inflammation and give pain relief. LLLT has been found to offer superior healing and pain relieving effects compared to other electrotherapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, especially in chronic problems and in the early stages of acute injuries. LLLT is a complete system of treating muscle, tendon, ligament, connective tissue, bone, nerve, and dermal tissues in a non-invasive, drug-free modality.

How does LLLT work?
Low Level Lasers can strengthen and heal damaged cells. Using photochemical processes, laser light inserts bio-photons into damaged cells. The cells begin to produce energy (ATP), which improves their function, assists their division, strengthens the body's immune system, and pain disappears. If damaged cells have died, the bio-photons help the division of neighboring cells, generating new tissues, and thus bring about healing.

  • LLLT promotes healing in many conditions because it penetrates the skin, increases the ATP and activates enzymes in the targeted cells.
  • Growth factor response within the cells and tissue as a result of increased ATP and protein synthesis.
  • Improved cell proliferation.
  • Pain relief as a result of increased endorphin release.
  • Strengthening the immune system response via increasing levels of lymphocyte activity.
Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM)

SASTM: Repetitive motion produces an inflammation process which, over time, results in chronic pain. This inflammation process produces scar tissue which creates muscular imbalances, resulting in decreased performance.

SASTM treatment uses specialized instruments designed to detect and treat scar tissue. The treatments allow for remodeling of connective tissue by reintroducing controlled amounts of micro-trauma. The instruments allow the therapist to detect and treat soft tissue adhesions more efficiently and effectively than traditional methods.

Indications for SASTM: Scar Mobility and fascial restrictions SASTM can accomplish the following:

  • Release of Fascial Restrictions and Adhesions
  • Separates and Breaks Down Collagen Cross-links
  • Splays and Stretches Connective Tissue and Muscle Fibers
  • Increases Skin Temperature
  • Facilitates Reflex Changes in Chronic Muscle Holding Patterns
  • Increases Rate and Amount of Blood Flow to and from the Area
  • Increases Histamine Response Secondary to Mast Cell Activity

Our Pleasanton location opened in 1985 and the Walnut Creek location opened in 2004. We are committed to providing the best physical therapy experience with the highest quality of care for optimal results. The owners of Back on Track Physical Therapy opened the private practice in response to the needs of our local community.

We pride ourselves on providing our community with the highest quality of care that is delivered in an efficient manner. Hands-on techniques facilitate pain relief and functional recovery. Therapeutic exercise and home programs will help get you back to where you want to be.

Give us a call if you have any questions about our services.

Services Available:

  • Rehabilitation Programs: One to two sessions each week to focus on pain relief then transition to less-frequent visits until normal activity is restored.
  • Consultations: Program design or modification to address recurring pain from specific activities or to change habits that cause pain.
  • Work Conditioning Program: Individualized programs to address the limitations preventing a person from returning to work.
  • Office Ergonomic Consultations: On-site evaluation, educational programming, modification suggestions, and task-specific movement re-education.
  • Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE): Detailed job or disability related assessments.
