Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Therapy involves the specialized assessment and treatment of disorders affecting the jaw joint and surrounding musculature. TMJ dysfunction can cause a range of symptoms including jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds, headaches, earaches, facial tension, and difficulty opening or closing the mouth. Physical therapy for TMJ focuses on relieving pain, restoring normal joint movement, and improving overall jaw function. Treatment may include manual therapy to mobilize the joint and soft tissues, posture correction, neuromuscular re-education, and therapeutic exercises to strengthen and stabilize the jaw. Modalities such as ultrasound, dry needling, and cold laser therapy may also be used to reduce inflammation and enhance healing. TMJ therapy aims to address both the symptoms and the root causes of dysfunction—often related to muscle imbalance, poor posture, clenching, or stress. By retraining movement patterns, releasing tight muscles, and improving alignment, therapy can provide long-term relief and prevent recurrence. Our individualized approach ensures each patient receives a tailored plan designed to restore comfort, function, and quality of life without invasive procedures or medication dependency.
