Vestibular Rehab (FOR VERTIGO)

VESTIBULAR REHAB (FOR VERTIGO)

Complaints of dizziness or vertigo can oftentimes have a simple fix in as little as 1-4 visits. A visit to the dentist with a tipped head position might set it in motion, or to awake from bed with the room spinning. Another scenario might occur while looking up for cereal on a high shelf with a head turn, or looking on the bottom shelf for an object with a head tilt. These moments of dizziness are brief usually lasting less than one minute, but sometimes nausea and off balance can linger for a week. The clinical term for these symptoms is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo or BPPV for short. Typically, patients are over 50 years old with no prior episodes of dizziness. The problem occurs when some of the crystals in your semicircular canals inside your inner ear, settle into another canal. It is sometimes a simple maneuver to move these wayward crystals back where they belong.
